Stocks Mixed After Jobs Data
By Jeremy Glaser (Morningstar via Yahoo! Finance)

The U.S. economy added 175,000 jobs in February, while the unemployment rate rose to 6.7% from 6.6%. Economists had expected 152,000 jobs to be added and for the unemployment rate to decline to 6.5%. January and December’s tepid job growth numbers were also revised upward. The labor force participation rate held steady at 63%.

The trade deficit rose 0.3% in January from December levels. The bigger than expected deficit was driven by a 0.6% rise in both imports and exports. Exports to China were up 10.4% year-over-year as the trade deficit with the country remained flat.

Ukraine standoff intensifies, Russia says sanctions will "boomerang"
By Steve Gutterman and Andrew Osborn (Reuters via Yahoo! Finance)

MOSCOW/SEVASTOPOL, Ukraine (Reuters) - Russia said any U.S. sanctions imposed on Moscow over the crisis in Ukraine will boomerang back on the United States and that Crimea has the right to self-determination as armed men tried to seize another Ukrainian military base on the peninsula.

In a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov warned against "hasty and reckless steps" that could harm Russian-American relations, the foreign ministry said on Friday.

"Sanctions...would inevitably hit the United States like a boomerang," it added.
